In anticipation of future projects in the mining and mineral exploration industry, our clients have asked us to help identify strong potential candidates with interest and experience in field based geology and mineral exploration work work.

About the Role:  Reporting to the Project Manager or Geologist, the Field Technician works with minimum direct supervision, providing a range of logistic and operations support to the team.  The role encompasses both generalist field support tasks (e.g. camp set-up, basic maintenance, safety procedures) and specialized tasks (e.g. geophysical logging, environmental management, GIS mapping).  

The work environment can vary widely based on geographic region and terrain.  The Field Technician spends the majority of the time outside and can be exposed to extreme weather conditions.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist in camp set-up and tear-down procedures.
• Assist with collection of soil, water, and drill core samples
• Accurately record and store field samples
• Transport people and equipment to and from remote work sites
• Follow and ensure compliance of all HSE standards
• Assist senior geologists and geoscientists with surveying and mapping
• Respect access to and native heritage sites
• Provide additional support as needed

Qualifications

• 4 year degree in Geology or related field of study, or equivalent experience
• Physical capability to stand, walk, or hike for extended periods (6+hours/day)
• Positive attitude and ability to work well with others
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proven ability to solve operational problems and be resourceful
• Experience in field based environment is preferred
