Senior Financial Analyst
Contract: 2–6 months (with possibility of extension)
Location: Calgary, AB

 

Our client delivers essential fuel products and energy solutions to retail, commercial, and industrial customers across diverse markets. They are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join their Corporate Finance team. This role is ideal for a CPA, or a candidate on track to achieve their CPA designation, with strong IFRS/US GAAP expertise and experience in public company reporting, acquisitions, and financial close cycles.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial and management reports in compliance with IFRS and US GAAP

  • Supporting the financial reporting process and ensuring SOX/C-SOX compliance

  • Analyzing acquisitions, business combinations, dispositions, and related accounting transactions

  • Partnering with Treasury on debt and equity accounting

  • Preparing and reviewing cash flow proofs, KPIs, share-based compensation, and impairment analyses

  • Overseeing lease accounting and providing technical accounting guidance

  • Collaborating with the Technical Accounting team on complex issues and policy development

  • Driving process improvements, enhancing system efficiencies, and supporting audit requests

Who You Are

  • CPA designation (or on track) with years of progressive experience, including at least 4 years in a public accounting firm (Big 4 preferred)

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, SOX/C-SOX, and complex accounting issues

  • Proven experience in public company financial reporting, acquisition accounting, and multi-currency environments

  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (JD Edwards, SAP, or similar) and reporting tools (Onestream, Hyperion, Workiva, XBRL)

  • Advanced Excel skills, comfortable handling large data sets

  • A proactive, detail-oriented problem solver who can “tell the story” behind the numbers

  • A collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
