Our client, a highly established and growing international company in the food manufacturing and distribution industry, has a rare opening for a Database Administrator to join their dynamic team.

This is a 6-9 month contract opportunity with the chance of extending or becoming permanent.

The role of the Database Administrator will be to support the ERP database, data warehouse and data-driven systems.  Additionally, the Database Administrator is expected to collaborate with all stakeholders for gathering requirements, preparing functional and technical specifications, implementation and managing the project scope. 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
  • Design, configure, install, and proactively maintain database servers to ensure optimal performance.
  • Provide technical support of the ERP database, data warehouse, and other data systems to internal and remote users.
  • Collaborates with manager and stakeholders for gathering requirements, preparing functional and technical specifications, implementation and managing the project scope.
  • Provides references for users by writing and maintaining user documentation, providing helpdesk support and training users.
  • Develop processes for optimizing database security and manage database access.
  • Set and maintain database standards to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Performance tuning of database systems.
  • Install, upgrade, and manage database applications.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot database and application errors.
  • Create and manage database reports, visualizations, and dashboards.
  • Create automation for repeating database tasks and ETL processes.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies and strategies to support business objectives and priorities.
  • Identify opportunities to continuously improve service levels and database standards.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information technology or other related discipline.
  • Microsoft MCSE Certification preferred.
  • Must have practical experience in a similar role.
  • Superior customer service skills providing prompt and courteous support.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills allowing efficient and effective identification of problems and the ability to apply appropriate solutions.
  • Responsible, quick learning, motivated and proactive personality.
  • Superior analytical, technical, problem solving skills, and possess a high level of attention to detail combined with excellent follow-up skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, and communication skills (both verbal and written). Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization.
  • Superior time management and prioritization skills including the ability to multi-task.
  • Must have strong experience of installing, configuring and supporting Microsoft technologies, including Windows server operating systems, SQL Server, SSIS, Power BI.
  • Must be proficient in SQL (T-SQL) language and procedures.
  • Must have data warehouse experience, including design, implementation, ETL, validation, and integration with other systems.
  • Must have experience supporting an enterprise ERP. Experience implementing and configuring an ERP would be an asset.
  • Specific expertise with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (NAV) would be highly desirable.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, sometimes unscheduled, to support maintenance and project workload
